‘The Wolf on Wall Street’ Trailer Shows Leonardo DiCaprio Rolling in Mega-Wealth Debauchery

The newly-released trailer for “The Wolf of Wall Street,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, gives a first glimpse at Martin Scorsese’s new crime thriller about the wealth of Wall Street moguls in the 1990s.

“The Wolf of Wall Street” is based on the memoir of former stockbroker Jordan Belfort, who spent 22 months in federal prison after being found guilty of securities fraud and money laundering in 1998.

Fresh off his “Great Gatsby” success, DiCaprio, who plays Belfort, again is painted as a party king of monstrous wealth – except this time his backdrop is Wall Street during the booming ’90s.

The trailer, set to Kanye West’s thumping “Black Skinhead” track, shows DiCaprio in expensive suits, crumpling up $100 bills and throwing them into the trash, carrying a chimpanzee through an office, throwing wild pool parties, playfully tossing money at FBI agents who come aboard his yacht – and yes, the champagne flows.

The film, which will be in theaters on Nov. 15, marks DiCaprio’s fifth collaboration with Scorsese. Alongside DiCaprio are Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey and Jon Favreau, among others.

Paris Jackson now in all-too-familiar spotlight

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Until he died in 2009, Michael Jackson was fiercely protective of his children (save for that one balcony-dangling incident). He covered their faces when they went out with him so they might enjoy the kind of normal childhood he missed out on as a member of the Jackson 5.

But Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson stepped onto a world stage without masks when they appeared at the King of Pop’s public memorial. Paris, then just 11, delivered the most poignant words of the star-studded service when she tentatively took the microphone and said, “Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine.”

Since Jackson’s death, Paris has become the most visible of his children, granting interviews to Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres, appearing in magazine articles and amassing more than a million followers on Twitter. She has also expressed interest in starting a singing career and has plans to star in a movie. But on Wednesday, Paris became a trending tabloid topic all too familiar for the Jackson family after she was rushed to a hospital for unspecified reasons.

All fire and sheriff’s officials would say is that they transported someone from a home on Paris’ suburban Calabasas street in the middle of the night for a possible overdose. They did not release any identifying information or additional details.

The Jackson family would say even less about what happened.

“Being a sensitive 15 year old is difficult no matter who you are,” Jackson’s mother’s attorney, Perry Sanders Jr., said in a statement Wednesday. “It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family’s privacy.”

Sanders declined further comment on the teenager’s condition or the circumstances that led to her hospitalization.

Yet on Tuesday, Paris hinted at her state of mind on Twitter, posting, “I wonder why tears are salty?” followed by lyrics from the Beatles’ song “Yesterday”: “yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they’re here to stay.”

A 20-minute video of the teen applying makeup was posted to YouTube last week. It shows Jackson in what she describes as her bedroom playfully demonstrating how she does her eye makeup. She receives and replies to several texts on her phone while offering cosmetics instruction. She also reveals that she watches the film “Tangled” three times a week and, as a child, fantasized about marrying a cowboy.

She also makes goofy faces and says, “I need serious help. I’m crazy!”

Paris wrote on Twitter that she doesn’t know how the video, in which she repeatedly asserts, “I am so weird,” ended up on YouTube.

“I hope you guys liked it tho and didn’t think i’m too crazy,” she wrote. “i get weird when i’m not around people lol.”

Katherine Jackson shares guardianship of her son’s three children with the singer’s nephew, TJ Jackson.

Messages left for TJ Jackson’s attorney were not returned.

“We appreciate everyone’s thoughts for Paris at this time and their respect for the family’s privacy,” said a statement from Eric George, an attorney for Debbie Rowe, Paris’ biological mother.

In recent months, she has reconnected with Rowe, with whom she has had little contact for most of her life.

Paris’ uncles Tito, Marlon and Jackie echoed that sentiment in their statement Wednesday: “Thank you for the outpouring of concern and support for Paris — she is safe and doing fine. We truly appreciate you respecting our family’s privacy at this time.”

The children are listed as plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed by their grandmother against concert giant AEG Live LLC, who she claims is responsible for her son’s death. Katherine Jackson’s lawsuit claims AEG failed to properly investigate the doctor convicted of causing the singer’s death, and pushed the superstar to rehearse and perform a planned series of 50 comeback shows titled “This Is It.”

Paris and Prince are listed as potential witnesses in the case, which is in its sixth week of trial.

Marvin S. Putnam, a defense attorney for AEG Live, said Paris and Prince Jackson were deposed in the case because they are named plaintiffs and may be called to testify. He said Paris Jackson’s testimony was not a “grilling” but urged privacy for her and her family.

“There’s a real person involved here,” Putnam said. “There’s a 15-year-old girl and something incredibly tragic has happened that none of us know why and I think it would really be in everyone’s best interest and particularly in her best interest if rather than blowing this up into something else, that they were given a little bit of privacy to deal with something that has to be a tragic, tragic moment for all of them.”

“She’s 15,” he said. “Someone should give her a break.”

‘America’s Got Talent’: Mel B Previews the Good (and Bad) Auditions, New Judges’ Panel

The Spice Girl tells THR what viewers can expect from season eight of NBC’s talent competition, premiering Tuesday night.

America’s Got Talent viewers will get their first real look at the two new — but familiar — faces on the judging panel when the NBC talent competition returns Tuesday night.

Mel B and Heidi Klum join returning judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern on season eight of the reality show, which also will relocate from Newark’s New Jersey Performing Arts Center to New York’s Radio City Music Hall when the live episodes begin July 23.

Ahead of Tuesday’s premiere, Spice Girl Mel B, who also has served as a judge on the Australian and U.K. versions of singing competition The X Factor, talked to The Hollywood Reporter about what viewers can expect, how the judges are meshing and who are some of the most memorable talent — both good and bad — so far.

The Hollywood Reporter: How did you become involved with America’s Got Talent?

Mel B: I got the phone call and got offered the job and was like, “Yeah!” I love this show, and of course the fact that it’s now in New York at Radio City Music Hall — that’s a legendary place that makes the show even more exciting. It’s a great family show, and people love watching it. I’ve watched for many years; I sit down with my kids and watch it. It’s nice to be a part of it.

THR: How has your experience as a judge been so far?

Mel B: I was actually a judge on The X Factor in the U.K. and Australia, but this is different because I have no idea what to expect next. Someone comes on the stage and all of a sudden there’s a snake around their neck or they’re putting a sword down their throat. Then there’s also singing and dancing. It’s truly a proper variety show, and anything can happen. It’s like experiencing a roller-coaster ride, everyone is so different, but thoroughly enjoyable.

THR: What can you tell us about the auditions?

Mel B: They’re all over now. We’ve been going up and down America from San Antonio to New Orleans, from Los Angeles to New York — literally everywhere. We’ve seen so many interesting acts — good ones and bad ones. There was one guy and his girlfriend piercing each other wire, through his nose and then through his wife’s nose, and then his cheek and his wife’s, backward and forward, zigzagging their bodies with this piece of wire. I found it repulsive. They were bleeding, literally. Then someone went up an 80-foot-pole with no safety net and did a handstand. There were normal acts too — cloggers, dancers. It’s been an interesting journey so far. The talent definitely upped the ante over last year. Now they are combining things, riding a unicycle while jugging and balancing a dog on their face. One guy shoved 27 swords down his throat and brought out an X-ray machine to show the swords going down in his stomach. Howard and Howie loved it; Heidi and I were like, “No.”

STORY: ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel Dish on Season 8

THR: What’s the chemistry like among the four judges?

Mel B: I’ve known Heidi for quite some time, and we get along like a house on fire. We give off a girl-power vibe. Howard and Howie are absolutely hilarious. We all come from entirely different backgrounds, but we all have something valid to say because of our experiences in life.

THR: How would you describe your style of judging?

Mel B: I don’t think I have a style of judging. I’m just very, very honest. That’s it. When you watch the show, you can judge my judging for yourself, but I’m just honest. At the end of the day, whether it’s a magic act or a dancing act or a singing act, if I want to buy tickets to come see your show, I’m going to like it. As long as you’re professional and entertaining, I appreciate that.

THR: Do you think the Radio City Music Hall setting will bring a new energy to the show?

Mel B: I think it will make everybody feel a little more nervous because legends perform on this stage. It’s one of the stamp marks of America.

4. He’s part fish! He once said in an interview, “When I am not in Hollywood working, I like to stay as close to the ocean as possible. I go up to Malibu a lot. I like to get in the ocean, run on the beach, run on the stairs, be active, stay outside.”

This Virtual Reality Treadmill Could Be The ‘Holy Grail’ Of Video Game Controllers

The tech world may be buzzing about the Oculus Rift — the newest virtual reality head-mounted display — but for those lucky enough to own a Rift, all eyes are on the Virtuix Omni’s Kickstarter debut.

The omni-directional treadmill will allow gamers to literally “get off the couch” and walk/sprint around games’ environments, utilizing a bowl-shaped, low-friction surface and matching shoes. The Omni is set to launch its Kickstarter crowdfunding page on Tuesday, with a promised endorsement from the founder of the Oculus Rift himself, Palmer Lucky, in a move that bodes well for the Omni’s future implementation in games.

Designed to be used in tandem with a head-mounted display such as the Oculus Rift, the Virtuix Omni is likely the last remaining piece for creating the Holy Grail of virtual reality setups. With Razer’s positional-tracking controller, the Hydra, recently finding its niche with Rift owners, the Virtuix Omni offers enthusiasts the chance to be mobile as well.

Keep an eye on Virtuix’s homepage for more information on the upcoming Kickstarter launch.

It’s a Girl for Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan-Tatum!

UPDATE: Tatum has formally announced the birth of his baby girl — and released her name — on his website.

“Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Channing Tatum are thrilled to announce the birth of their daughter, Everly Tatum, who was born on May 31st in London,” the message reads.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum have a new tiny dancer in the family!

With “Magic Mike” for a dad and a former *NSYNC and Janet Jackson backup dancer for a mom, how could the pair’s brand new baby daughter not have moves?

The first-time parents — who wed in 2009 — brought their new bundle of joy into the world on May 31 in a non-traditional location: London! Jenna, 32, chose to join her hubby of three years across the pond where he’s been shooting a new sci-fi flick, “Jupiter Ascending,” making their daughter a little bit of a Brit.

But, when Channing, 33, talked to omg! just weeks before the birth, he said the pair still hadn’t decided whether to make baby an official dual citizen of the U.S. and England.

“I’ve heard like 17 different things,” he told us, admitting the citizenship process was a little confusing. “We just asked the hospital and they didn’t even really know, so I don’t know how we’re ever going to know. If we ever really wanted to make her a citizen, we’d go figure it out.”

The other thing the actor, who stars alongside Jamie Foxx in this summer’s action thriller, “White House Down,” was feeling a little befuddled about? Parenting!

When omg! asked him if playing a dad to actress Joey King in the film had prepped him for the real thing, Channing quipped: “Ah man, I don’t think it prepared me at all — as much as I’ve been sort of slowly walking into this. It’s crazy because I always imagined being a dad, but I never imagined the pregnancy part. This has definitely been a journey,” he said before adding, “And even that being said, Jenna’s had a pretty, fairly smooth pregnancy.”

However, Channing managed to master one daddy duty before the arrival of his little girl. He found a babysitter — and a role model.

“If my little baby comes out anything like Joey King, she will just be the coolest kid on the face of the earth because [Joey] is so talented that it’s unreal. She’s already offering to babysit.”

As for Jenna, a source told Us Weekly just weeks before the birth that the mother-to-be, who met Channing on the set of their film “Step Up,” couldn’t be happier.

“Jenna knows just how lucky she is to have Channing at her side,” said the source. “Her heart is filled with so much love. She and Channing are truly soul mates.”
